Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and reporting of diverse audit and assurance projects aligned with the organization's primary risks.
  • Play a pivotal role in evaluating the design and efficiency of controls to mitigate risks and improve business performance, while upholding ethical standards and safeguarding the organization's reputation.
  • Formulate recommendations in audit reports to address findings and deficiencies identified during audit procedures, and compile the audit results in a comprehensive report.
  • As a key liaison to one of the business units, you may participate in quarterly Audit Review Board meetings alongside Management Committee members and senior Internal Audit leadership.
  • The audit reports you generate will be tailored for the Business Leadership and the Executive Committee of BAE Systems plc.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven technical expertise gained from experience in Finance.
  • Possession of a professional qualification that demonstrates proficiency in Finance (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent).
  • Prior experience in managing audits, preferably with formal training in auditing.
  • Strong analytical skills with the capability to dissect complex issues.
  • Ability to produce concise, professional, and precise management reports that convey essential messages.
  • Competence in reviewing, documenting, and comprehending intricate systems or processes.
  • Understanding of data utilization within the business, employing suitable techniques and tools to draw valid conclusions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation with a background in finance.
  • Familiarity with the evolving landscape of corporate governance and reporting, particularly concerning the UK Corporate Governance Code 2024, especially in relation to Provision 29 regarding risk management and internal controls framework.

You will engage with senior stakeholders across the organization while working on a range of audit assignments.
