Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

Are you a skilled manufacturing engineer looking for a challenging role in the external supply chain? We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist to join our team at Rolls-Royce Submarines.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced manufacturing engineer to join our team. As a Manufacturing Engineering Specialist, you will be responsible for the manufacture of a portfolio of parts associated with the external supply chain. You will work closely with external suppliers to ensure the delivery of high-quality nuclear products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess the capability of manufacturing suppliers and support source selection and approval in the supply chain
  • Govern the execution of Manufacturing Engineering activities in the External Supply Chain to assure the development and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture which meet business and customer requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead-time (SQCD)
  • Use fundamental knowledge of DFMEA / PFMEA to influence Product definition / final form manufacture
  • Act as the primary Manufacturing Engineering representative within a cross-functional team for their suppliers
  • Use natural and learned negotiation/coaching skills and business acumen to build customer & supplier relationships at all levels

Requirements:

  • Experience of any of fabrications, valves, complex assemblies, machining and of critical classified components.
  • A degree, or equivalent, in an engineering or related technical discipline with previous experience in a manufacturing engineering and/or process engineering background
  • Strong analytical skills and a proven record of technical problem-solving skills along with knowledge of six sigma / lean techniques
  • Good communication and organisational skills, with the ability to liaise with all levels of staff
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to present at all levels
