Job Description

Blackburn Starling is seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Nottingham. As a specialist in the MCC and power control sector, you will work alongside an established team to deliver control system solutions to the water industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, commission, and support automation and control systems solutions, including design, specification, programming, simulation, testing, and start-up assistance.
  • Be responsible for the planning and execution of intrusive surveys on live control systems, identifying and managing associated risks.
  • Develop detailed design proposals for new build and ICA refurbishment projects, establishing the scope of work required.
  • Work within a multi-discipline design team to create control solutions that meet required functionality.
  • Define control system hardware and software requirements.
  • Assist electrical engineers in developing robust Control Systems Architectures using appropriate technology in accordance with Client, WIMES, and industrial standards.
  • Provide specialist ICA assistance to engineers during the development of the Control Philosophy.
Requirements
  • HNC/HND Degree in Engineering or equivalent, with emphasis in electrical, mechanical, electronic, automation, and/or chemical disciplines.
  • Proven ability in designing and commissioning control and electrical systems associated with process automation.
  • Experience in the design process from specification through to implementation and final validation.
  • Detailed experience in developing Control Systems solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and HMI/SCADA and Telemetry Systems in the process control environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with Clients and colleagues regarding technical requirements.
  • Ability to deliver technical solutions and design robust solutions.
  • Experience in integration and modification into existing systems PLC control systems in a 'live' environment.
  • Working knowledge of process systems, P&ID control, and loop tuning.
  • FAT & SAT experience with PLC & Electrical Control Systems.
  • Commissioning and Start-up experience of PLC, SCADA & Industrial Automation equipment.
