About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Advanced Skills Worker to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our residential provision, you will play a vital role in providing nurturing therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support and care to children in a residential setting, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
  • Work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement personalized care plans, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children.
  • Manage challenging behavior, using de-escalation techniques and providing a safe and secure environment for children.
  • Line manage a team of staff, providing guidance and supervision to ensure they are equipped to support children to meet agreed outcomes.
  • Contribute to the effective day-to-day running of the home, creating a caring and supportive environment for children and staff.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a children's home or similar setting, with a proven track record of providing high-quality care and support.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Development (or equivalent) or willingness to complete within 2 years of starting employment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, staff, and external agencies.
  • Ability to manage challenging behavior and provide a safe and secure environment for children.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work a varied shift pattern, including evenings and weekends.
