An exceptional opportunity has emerged within the Medical Care Group for a seasoned leader with a solid background in both operational and clinical settings to become a vital member of the leadership team overseeing the Virtual Ward initiative.
Our Virtual Ward initiative is a progressive service that provides acute assessment, management, and monitoring in a community environment, spanning various specialties.

Primary Location: Bournemouth with cross-site responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The individual will be accountable for the management of the Virtual Ward across designated specialties within the Trust, delivering clinical, managerial, and professional guidance to the Virtual Ward team.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the delivery of optimal quality patient care while maintaining nursing and healthcare standards.
- Guaranteeing that the patient experience is of the highest caliber, fostering confidence among patients and the public.
- Supporting the growth and enhancement of our Virtual Ward service, spearheading pathway development, virtual ward capacity, and identifying innovative solutions.
- Leading and assessing change initiatives, utilizing Patient First Quality Improvement methodology to drive pathway development and service delivery.
- Assisting the Deputy Director of Operations in shaping the operational strategy for pathway services.
- Actively promoting the values and principles of the organization and sharing responsibility for the provision of pathway model services.
- Collaborating with colleagues and managers to cultivate partnerships within the program, ensuring a coordinated approach to service delivery.

Job Responsibilities
The Lead Nurse role is pivotal in executing the Trust's strategy and objectives within their designated area, which includes:
- Ensuring the standardization of services across all relevant areas to achieve the highest possible level of care for all patients.
- Supporting the planning and management of services to optimize resource utilization.
- Fostering the development of a sustainable and safe workforce that is prepared for future challenges within their area of responsibility.
- Ensuring services are delivered in an environment where patient safety, high clinical quality, service improvement, and financial accountability are prioritized.
- Guaranteeing the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of care across the virtual ward.
Qualifications
Essential
- 1st Level Registered Nurse/Midwife/AHP on the relevant part of the Register.
- First degree or equivalent qualification.
Desirable
- Master's degree.
Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in operational management within an acute healthcare environment, overseeing a ward/service/department, including staff, financial/budgetary, and change management.
Desirable
- Experience in chairing capability disciplinary hearings and managing complex HR procedures.
