Job Summary:

This is a pivotal role in the efficient and timely running of the Machine Shop operation. Reporting to the Head of UK Manufacturing, the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing and planning production orders to meet customer delivery requirements and ensuring cost-effective planning processes and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan production orders to meet customer delivery requirements, ensuring timely and efficient production processes.
  2. Release production orders and book in completed orders, maintaining accurate records and communication with the shop floor.
  3. Issue plans to the shop floor, providing clear guidance on forward load and required dates.
  4. Plan maintenance activities, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal production levels.
  5. Facilitate make-or-subcontract discussions and manage sub-contract order placement, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality control.
  6. Report KPI performance metrics monthly, providing insights for process improvement.
  7. Communicate accurate planning information to internal customers, taking necessary actions to achieve agreed plans.
  8. Assist in identifying and justifying improvement projects, driving process enhancements and efficiency gains.

Requirements:

  1. An engineering background in manufacturing, including CNC machining, with a strong understanding of production processes.
  2. Experience in reviewing KPIs, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing changes.
  3. Experience in raising purchase requisitions, managing inventory, and ensuring timely delivery.
  4. Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems, with the ability to navigate and optimize production planning.
  5. Demonstrated perfect organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  6. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks, and prioritizing responsibilities.
