About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Cargo Superintendent. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely loading and discharge of vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the overall cargo operations, including planning, coordination, and execution of loading and discharge activities.
  • Compile and analyze cargo information to ensure accurate and efficient vessel turnaround.
  • Calculate and manage resources, including equipment and labor, to meet operational requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, regulations, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Vessel Supervisor to proactively manage stevedore operations and performance.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Provide training and coaching to direct reports to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Assist in other areas of Vessel Services and the wider business as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the shipping or logistics industry.
  • Leadership or management experience, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Full clean driving license.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Industry-related degree qualification.
  • Managing Safely at Work and IOSH Certification.
  • Knowledge of relevant IT systems and software applications.
