Job Title: Biosystems Operator
About the Role:
Stericycle is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Biosystems Operator to join our team at Knostrop Treatment Works. As a Biosystems Operator, you will play a critical role in the smooth day-to-day operation of the Biosystems plant, ensuring the receipt, emptying, and cleaning of reusable sharps containers, and preparing them for dispatch and reuse.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the Biosystems Wash line and Autoclave Plant in line with company set KPI targets, ensuring high-quality control and stock control at all times.
- Effectively control the receipt and dispatch of Waste Containers, Transporters, and Roll Cages, ensuring safe loading and unloading of vehicles in line with internal policies and processes.
- Maintain company operational records and data, including shift reports, BMS data entry, and productive reports, in accordance with internal policies and processes.
- Provide assistance with breakdown/defect repairs and support to Maintenance Engineers, minimizing plant availability loss.
- Conduct shift inspections, including work-safe observations and reporting of good catches, and resolve good catches, updating reporting systems.
- Review handover from previous shifts, ensure resource distribution plans are in place, complete shift handover reports, and KPI reporting.
- Maintain high levels of housekeeping and safe working areas during each shift.
Requirements:
- High school or equivalent education.
- Basic knowledge of waste management and processing.
- Ability to work without direct supervision, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance.
- Manual handling skills, including lifting and moving full and empty sharps containers.
- Good communication and team working skills to work effectively with the Biosystems plant team and drivers.
- Key attention to detail.
- Potential use of handheld vibrating equipment, substances hazardous to health, and clinical waste handling.
- Use of forklift trucks and vehicle tail lifts if trained to do so.
