Advanced Nurse Practitioner for Site Management

Chichester, West Sussex, United Kingdom University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job Overview

We are excited to present an opportunity to become a vital member of the Site Management Team as a Band 7 Clinical Site Nurse Practitioner. This role is based within a dedicated team at a leading healthcare institution, where collaboration and clinical expertise are paramount. Each day presents unique challenges, allowing staff to engage with various specialties and departments throughout the organization. You will be equipped to handle clinical emergencies across the site, functioning both independently and as part of a dynamic emergency response team.

This position involves overseeing bed capacity management throughout the day, making it ideal for those who enjoy problem-solving. We provide a comprehensive induction and ongoing support to ensure your professional growth. The role encompasses significant responsibilities, including managing site operations around the clock, which includes participation in night rotations as part of the Hospital at Night team. Candidates should be currently operating at Band 6 with substantial experience, and prior ward management experience is advantageous.

Main Responsibilities

We encourage applications from individuals holding a valid UK NMC registration. Unfortunately, we are not currently hiring Internationally Qualified Nurses requiring sponsorship.

This role is integral in supporting the patient journey through the healthcare system, both from a managerial and clinical perspective. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating timely and appropriate clinical placements for patients.
  • Providing advanced nursing practice and clinical decision-making support.
  • Operationally managing the hospital site 24/7.

The team's focus is on breaking down barriers and identifying solutions that enhance the patient experience.

Working for Our Organization

At University Hospitals Sussex, we celebrate diversity as a core strength and strive to create an inclusive environment that prioritizes patient care, as reflected in our Outstanding for Caring CQC rating. Your unique experiences will contribute to our innovative community, where every member is encouraged to thrive. We offer various Staff Networks to foster inclusivity and can provide a buddy system for new team members. We are proud to be recognized as a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and a Veteran Aware Trust.

We treat our patients and staff with the compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. Our Wellbeing Programme is extensive, designed to support our staff when needed, acknowledging that to care for others, we must first care for ourselves.

As a university trust and a leader in healthcare research, we value continuous learning and development. From your first day and throughout your career, we are committed to helping you grow and excel. By choosing University Hospitals Sussex, you are selecting a fulfilling career where your contributions are recognized and valued.

Detailed Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the timely and appropriate clinical placement of patients by managing the effective utilization of inpatient beds, ensuring efficient service for both emergency and elective admissions.
  • Provide senior nursing support through advanced assessment skills and clinical management across various clinical areas.
  • Ensure patients receive timely assessments, referrals, and transfers from the A&E department to optimize clinical care.
  • Act as a troubleshooting resource during the patient pathway to enhance the overall patient experience.
  • Serve as the primary contact during out-of-hours periods, coordinating with on-call teams as necessary and executing overnight plans as discussed with the Clinical Site Manager.
