This organization plays a vital role in facilitating the UK's transition towards sustainable energy, focusing on the planning, design, and execution of significant power projects that connect renewable energy sources to urban centers.

They are experts in securing planning permissions, designing, and surveying Overhead Lines, Underground Cables, and Substation Systems, operating both within the UK and internationally, and contributing significantly to the infrastructure of major power projects.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Project Leader to oversee multidisciplinary teams in the successful delivery of development and design initiatives. The ideal candidate will be accountable for the technical, contractual, financial, and scheduling aspects of these projects, while ensuring exceptional client service.

This role offers the opportunity to become part of a growing team and gain insights into the engineering components of the Development Consent Order process, paving the way for career advancement to Senior and Principal Project Manager roles as you enhance your skills and expertise with comprehensive support.

The position will primarily be office-based, with travel for meetings, workshops, and site assessments as necessary, typically up to 2-3 days per week.

  • Lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary project team to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of project objectives.
  • Oversee Health & Safety and Construction Design Management for projects.
  • Address client requirements effectively.
  • Manage contracts and variations, minimizing risks through effective negotiation of terms and conditions.
  • Oversee the invoicing process.
  • Engage and manage subcontractors as needed through direct allocation or competitive tendering.
  • Plan and lead site visits and survey strategies.
  • Prepare and manage project schedules.
  • Develop new client relationships and identify opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation of project tenders or quotes, including documentation and cost estimations.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a motivated and dynamic professional with a strong interest in renewable energy.

  • A relevant engineering or town planning degree or equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission and distribution design or project delivery.
  • Experience with Development Consent Orders or similar linear infrastructure planning is preferred.
  • Desirable experience in Overhead Line, cable, or substation design.
  • Professional chartership is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of NEC contracts is a plus.
