Construction Management Educator

Flexibility is required, as teaching may occur during weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties Include:

  • Overseeing all facets of course delivery, assessment, and ensuring that educational objectives are met
  • Designing, revising, and enhancing course content as necessary
  • Implementing diverse teaching methodologies, including online learning platforms
  • Participating in meetings to contribute to collaborative decision-making and fostering effective teamwork
  • Engaging in professional development and peer review initiatives
  • Staying informed about student support services to provide comprehensive guidance
  • Contributing to the performance management framework, focusing on student outcomes, satisfaction, retention, and attendance
  • Completing administrative tasks as directed by your supervisor
  • Assuming additional responsibilities to support the objectives of GBS
Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, or a related field; typically, a Master's degree in a relevant discipline is expected, along with a PhD or equivalent professional experience.
  • A Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice or a similar teaching qualification (or a commitment to pursue such a qualification during the probationary period and complete it within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or an equivalent international qualification)
  • Previous experience teaching similar courses
  • Proven ability to supervise student projects and provide constructive feedback
  • Experience in broader subject areas related to construction
  • Familiarity with distance education and supporting learners in both online and face-to-face settings.
  • Professional demeanor in all interactions with students and colleagues
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant subject matter
  • Strong commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth
  • Attention to detail and precise reporting skills
  • Capability to maintain organized student records
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Highly driven and capable of working independently
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in teaching construction management with a focus on building information modeling (BIM) and digital technologies relevant to the field at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in conducting computer-aided design workshops.
  • Background in designing or developing academic or professional education programs or similar.
  • Full membership in CIOB or a comparable professional organization.
