About the Role:

Supply Desk is pleased to be working with a good-rated school in the Aylesbury area that prides itself on providing a nurturing and inclusive environment for children, allowing them to succeed to the best of their ability, regardless of the challenges they may face.

The school is looking for support with some of its students and is seeking an excellent support member of staff who has experience/qualifications working with students with visual impairments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the teacher and assist with creating and delivering activities that cater to the needs of students with visual impairments.
  • Develop a holistic approach to meeting the students' needs by delivering on action plans and strategies that enable learners to make good progress.
  • Support students with vision impairment in using braille or optical devices to read and write, mobility devices (long cane, telescopes, or GPS), and assistive technology (screen readers or screen magnification), and teach non-visual techniques for home and personal management.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, Risk Assessments, Personal Care, and Therapy Care programs for a designated group/form.
  • Work with teachers, other support staff, families, and external agencies to provide the best support possible.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with VI's or a willingness to work with children with VI's.
  • Good knowledge of SEN and a passion to develop.
  • Able to commit to working fixed days - full or part-time.
  • Has a clear and valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
  • Has relevant training to support students with visual impairments.
