Position Overview

The Local Authority Sales Manager is crucial in building partnerships and driving business expansion within the Local Authority sector.

This role encompasses the development and execution of strategies aimed at establishing, cultivating, and enhancing relationships with key stakeholders in Local Authorities and Support Partners.

The primary objective is to advocate for the advantages of collective procurement, facilitate the formation of larger contracts, and ultimately boost revenue and sales performance.

This position is both managerial and operational, overseeing a team of four Local Authority Business Development Managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily operations and objectives of the Local Authority Business Development team, serving as the initial point of contact.
  • Supervise incoming leads, ensuring timely follow-up and progression to closure by the team.
  • Identify training requirements and provide coaching and support as necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to Bromcom's sales quality processes, including the documentation of all activities in the CRM system.
  • Own and drive the sales targets for the Local Authority team, creating and implementing a strategic sales plan to meet these objectives.
Relationship Management
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with key stakeholders within Local Authorities.
  • Leverage existing connections and strategic approaches to enhance Bromcom's reputation in targeted areas.
  • Define commercial agreements with various Support Units and ensure proper representation on relevant public platforms.
  • Maintain an updated list of support partners, accreditations, and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Establish and keep current the core expectations of a Centre of Excellence in collaboration with the Bromcom team and selected Support Units.
  • Facilitate SSU engagement through the relevant Business Development Managers.
  • Conduct regular internal meetings to ensure effective activities and derive value from all partner relationships.
  • Define processes to ensure schools receive appropriate commercial terms when partnering through a Support Unit.
  • Organize and execute partnership events to reflect various levels of SSU collaboration.
Collaboration with Teams
  • Coordinate with School by School and Multi-Academy Trust teams to convert Local Authority leads into School by School leads and vice versa.
  • Identify opportunities for engagement at the Local Authority level to contribute to larger contracts.
Presentations and Demonstrations
  • Provide support for presentations and demonstrations tailored for Local Authority discussions.
  • Work with the Marketing Team to distribute materials to schools and Local Authorities, following up to arrange calls and demonstrations.
Opportunity Identification
  • Proactively seek and develop new opportunities with Local Authorities through thorough intelligence gathering.
  • Stay informed about changes in educational policies and regulations affecting Local Authorities.
CRM Utilization
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, conversations, and Key Performance Indicators using the CRM system.
  • Ensure comprehensive use of the CRM to document activities and opportunities.
Sales Forecasting and Reporting
  • Lead sales forecasting meetings to present a reliable pipeline of appointments aligned with targets.
  • Oversee the production of weekly, quarterly, and annual sales reports.
Professional Development
  • Strive to achieve and maintain best practice performance and sales standards.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and engage in continuous learning to enhance expertise in the field.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in the education sector, particularly with Local Authorities and market trends.
