About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Technical Author to join our team at Innovate Recruitment Ltd. As a key member of our documentation team, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining high-quality technical documents, including drawings, illustrations, and system diagrams.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain technical drawings, illustrations, and system diagrams to support manuals and sales bids.
  2. Redraw and update existing drawings to ensure their availability for use in various packages.
  3. Manage the storage and accessibility of drawings, ensuring they are reusable and easily modifiable for future projects.
  4. Create and maintain a numbering system to properly catalog drawings for traceability.
  5. Participate in the creation of high-quality bid responses, ensuring timely submission of both paper and electronic versions.
  6. Prepare new handbooks and documents in both paper and electronic formats according to required standards and deadlines.
  7. Meet contractual requirements, including content security and unit operating procedures, during document creation.
  8. Handle and maintain classified documents following security grades and UK restrictions.
  9. Safeguard company intellectual property, ensuring copyright, trademarks, and patents are protected.
  10. Ensure all documents are free from infringement on other companies' copyrights, trademarks, or patents.
  11. Maintain document masters and associated materials for future reproduction or modification.
  12. Supervise junior authors or trainees when assigned, providing guidance and support.
  13. Ensure compliance with security and health and safety requirements as specified in company procedures.
  14. Liaise with MicroConcepts (CAD package provider) when required.
  15. Administer the 'Vault' MicroConcepts storage facility as necessary.
  16. Develop and maintain procedures related to technical publications and undertake any other tasks associated with the role.

Requirements:

  1. Proficient in illustration tools such as AutoCAD, CorelDraw, and Acrobat, and skilled in word processing tools like Microsoft Office.
  2. Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  3. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers and sales personnel for creating or modifying drawings and documents.
  4. Confident in handling.pdf files for document manipulation.

Experience Required:

  1. Broad engineering background with a basic knowledge of electronics.
  2. Ability to read and interpret circuit and wiring diagrams.
  3. Familiarity with mechanical assembly and installation techniques.
