We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Operations Manager to join our team at Amazon Data Services UK Limited. As a Data Centre Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing and developing teams of engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise, and ensuring the highest levels of performance.
Key Responsibilities- Managing and developing teams of engineers to deliver high-quality services and solutions.
- Maintaining existing co-located and in-house Data Centres, ensuring they meet the highest standards of safety and security.
- Helping build and bring online new Data Centres, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Continuously improving processes and procedures to drive operational excellence and efficiency.
- Assisting and managing relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring seamless collaboration and delivery.
- Liaising with internal teams and management groups to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Ensuring adherence to and exceeding local Health & Safety standards in all Data Centres.
- Creating and maintaining metrics on all aspects of Data Centres, utilizing them to drive positive changes and improvements.
- Assisting in implementing service methodologies, including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management, and more.
- Technical degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience managing large-scale services and 3 years managing and building strong successful technical teams in a similar culture.
- Project Management Experience and Systems and networking knowledge.
- Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team and/or product.
- Formal project management certifications (Prince2, PMP, AGILE).
- Scripting: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby (or programming languages).
- Experience or Knowledge of AWS products: EC2, EBS, S3 and infrastructure and system redundancy (Power feeds, ATS, Server Hardware, RAID, Network Connectivity).
