About You
We are looking for a meticulous and results-driven Management Accountant with a solid background in accounting frameworks and procedures. Role Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include assisting the Finance Team in overseeing the collection of income due to UKRI-MRC, which encompasses forecasting, monitoring, and managing accounting and reporting for various financial awards. The role involves a diverse range of financial activities, from generating reports and processing transactions to addressing inquiries from various stakeholders and maintaining comprehensive process documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborating with the Senior Finance Manager in the daily oversight of the UKRI-MRC contract Acting as a liaison for the Finance team with the UKRI-MRC programme team and other related teams, including participation in their meetings Overseeing the collection of income owed to the UKRI-MRC, including forecasting, monitoring, and implementing corrective actions as necessary Evaluating funding proposals against established eligibility criteria and facilitating finance contract discussions Analyzing financial data to produce scheduled and on-demand reports Monitoring finance contracts, including payment schedules, maintaining timely records, and resolving data quality issues Providing prompt and accurate responses to inquiries from programme staff, contractors, clients, and other stakeholders regarding financial aspects of applications and funded research Engaging in effective business partnerships to gather relevant information for forecasting Assisting with research funding and committee expense reimbursement processes as needed Maintaining Excel-based tools, relevant accounting schedules, and systems Participating in a variety of internal finance processes, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives Offering ad-hoc support to finance management and undertaking any other reasonable tasks as directed by line management

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Experience, and Technical Skills
Essential Criteria

Proven experience in financial planning and analysis within a project and contract framework Background in a finance department Strong familiarity with accounting systems and processes Proficient in computer applications, particularly MS Office (Excel is essential) Ability to cultivate and maintain strong, productive relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels Competence in organizing personal workload effectively, managing multiple prioritized tasks, targets, and deadlines Capability to work flexibly, proactively, and independently, demonstrating initiative in addressing assigned tasks Skill in anticipating changes in workload and business needs, preparing for necessary support during critical periods
