Position: Automation Systems Engineer

Location: Telford

Our client, a well-established leader in the field of automation solutions, is seeking a skilled Automation Systems Engineer to join their dynamic software team. With nearly two decades of experience, they specialize in providing comprehensive hardware and software design, as well as robotic systems integration for a diverse clientele across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Automation Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing individual engineering projects while maintaining client relationships in accordance with required timelines and standards.
  • Creating technical documentation that aligns with client specifications and industry standards, utilizing appropriate technical features and diagrams.
  • Developing customized software routines and functions to ensure safe and efficient operation of machinery and systems.
  • Implementing safety software in compliance with relevant safety standards.
  • Conducting thorough testing and quality assurance of all systems and bespoke software prior to deployment.
  • Commissioning systems both at the company headquarters and at client locations, with occasional international travel.

Work Environment:
This role may require you to work on-site for up to 70% of the year, with the remaining time spent in the office. All travel expenses will be covered by the client.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive experience with Siemens TIA Portal and/or Allen Bradley Studio 5000, along with a solid grasp of PLC programming using ladder logic.
  • Proven skills in HMI screen development and on-site commissioning of industrial automation systems.
  • A strong understanding of industrial communication systems such as Profinet, Ethernet, and Profibus.
  • A full UK driving license and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A relevant electrical, electromechanical, or controls qualification, ideally at HND level or above, with a minimum of three years of experience in a similar role.
