We are seeking a Lead Cost Estimator to become an integral part of our team at Laing O'Rourke.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of a project or a segment of a project.
  • Execute all essential Quantity Surveying functions, including measurement, valuation, and agreement of work sections.
  • Oversee the preparation and management of interim payment applications and certifications.
  • Draft, manage, and finalize subcontract agreements.
  • Monitor and report on monthly expenditure.
  • Prepare and manage claims documentation.
  • Facilitate the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Supervise and mentor trainee quantity surveyors and assistants.
  • Engage in negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to achieve project objectives while fostering positive relationships.
  • Provide guidance to project management on contractual implications of proposed actions.
  • Assess commercial risks associated with the project(s).
  • Compile and manage monthly contract review reports.
  • Generate weekly Business Plan Review (BPR) information.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts data.
  • Contribute contractual and commercial insights into the Project Business Plan as necessary.
  • Assist in establishing the project budget from the contract award.
  • Identify, negotiate, and implement change control processes.
  • Ensure all contract documents are duly executed before project initiation.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Keep management informed of any issues or risks that may impact the project or business.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in independently delivering small to medium-sized projects or providing support to a commercial manager on larger projects.
  • Degree in a relevant field such as Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Experience with JCT contracts.
