About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Wellingborough Depot. This role will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, and Departmental Leads to support the commercial performance of the contracting departments of BAM Site Solutions.

Project values range from £10k to £250k, aggregating to circa £8M per annum. This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, with the successful candidate supporting projects UK-wide and required to travel as needed.

In addition to an attractive salary, we offer a contributory pension, 25 days holiday, gym subsidy, and BAM social club membership. BAM operates a flexible working policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policies
  • Manage subcontractors, including payments preparation, final account work, and inputting into dispute resolution
  • Deal with queries promptly to avoid disputes
  • Monitor cost as part of budget and cost control
  • Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports, and present to senior management
  • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy
  • Understand and promote usage of Company Procedures and suggest improvements
  • Involvement in change management, including input to construction programmes
  • Ensure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments
  • Provide commercial advice to the site team and management on all contractual issues
  • Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings
  • Manage time and workloads for yourself in a structured manner
  • Assist in delivery of commercial training to all staff
  • Provide input to risk management of projects and departments
  • Knowledge of construction procedures and working methods
Requirements
  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar field desirable
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT
  • Good general commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of and experience in the UK Construction and Civils industry
  • Experience in establishing and delivering work programs and schedules
  • Hands-on experience in creating reporting and managing budgets
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Be computer literate, having experience with MSExcel and MSWord and SharePoint
  • Ability to understand and work to BAM values
