We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Medicines Management Assistant to join our Cancer pharmacy team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in providing an efficient, effective, and safe pharmaceutical service to patients and service users.
Key Responsibilities- Stock Management: Manage ward and patient drug stocks, ensuring adequate stock is available in the clinical area by topping up stock, processing extra requests, and proactively managing stock levels.
- Dispensing and Supply: Dispense urgent inpatient and discharge prescriptions for patients within the clinical area and assist in the management of drug supply problems.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Play an active role in monitoring, reporting, and auditing defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) under the supervision of the Specialist Pharmacist responsible for the area.
- Service Development: Assist in the development, monitoring, and audit of the CAS clinical pharmacy service and implement local improvements to deliver the Trustwide Medicines Optimisation strategy.
- Team Collaboration: Integrate into the wider multidisciplinary team in the clinical area and contribute to the provision of the drug and fluid replenishment service.
- Supply Chain Management: Monitor and review drug supply issues relevant to the clinical area to ensure an effective and safe system of drug supply.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that all ward stock is put away in the correct place, keeping the cabinets, ward stock cupboards, and ward fridges tidy and regularly stock checked.
- Waste Reduction: Ensure that ward stock is rotated to minimize wastage and report any storage concerns to the ward manager and relevant Pharmacist.
- Medicines Returns: Facilitate the medicines returns process for the clinical area and support the discharge of patients by transferring patients' medication for relabel and delivery of interim's for controlled drug TTOs to the appropriate pharmacy.
- Systematic Therapy: Facilitate the supply of patients' systemic anticancer therapy through delivery of ChemoCare prescriptions to outpatient pharmacy and Cytolab.
- Inventory Control: Collect and transfer patients' medication between wards and departments and assist the Medicines Management Technicians in collecting data to support audit and research.
- Procedure Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for medicines supply, storage, and stock replenishment.
- Security and Compliance: Be responsible for the local implementation of standards relating to medicines storage and security and carry out agreed audits relating to the safe and secure storage of medicines in the clinical area.
- Representation: Represent the Pharmacy Department when working in ward, clinic, or other departmental environments and monitor and replenish emergency use medication and equipment.
- Inventory Oversight: Assist in the ordering of controlled drugs by conducting daily stock checks and monthly oversight of the high-cost drug forms for CAS inpatient and outpatient areas.
