SEMH Teaching Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in the LS14 area. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges in Key Stages 2, 3, and 4.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, promoting their emotional and behavioural development.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create tailored learning plans, ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive.
  • Monitor student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and contributing to reports as necessary.
  • Act as a role model and mentor, encouraging students to build self-esteem and develop social skills.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or similar behavioural needs.
  • A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a focus on patience, empathy, and resilience.
  • A current DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive approach to supporting students.
