Job Title: Assistant Design Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Design Manager to join our team at Spencer & James Recruitment. As an Assistant Design Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting Design Managers and Senior Design Managers in the social housing Planned Maintenance sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Design Managers with the development and oversight of design programs, ensuring timely achievement of project goals.
  • Address design issues, coordinate with project teams, and ensure proposals and design deliverables are thorough, budget-friendly, and practical for construction.
  • Work with the Design Manager/Senior Design Manager to create and manage design schedules and Information Required Schedules.
  • Offer advice on design-related concerns to the project team, facilitating effective resolution of issues.
  • Manage and resolve design-related queries from the project team, ensuring smooth communication with the design team.
  • Assist in preparing detailed, clear proposals, ensuring they are complete and meet project requirements.
  • Evaluate design deliverables, including those from specialist suppliers, to confirm they are on budget, well-coordinated, and feasible for construction.

Requirements:
  • Clear understanding of building methods and technologies, procurement, and risk management.
  • Basic familiarity with contracts, contract documentation, planning techniques, management systems, and life cycle cost/value analysis.
  • Relevant experience in design management or a similar field, with the ability to handle complex design tasks.
