About the Role

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) in Cheltenham. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in creating a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for students aged 5-11.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 care to students with SEN, including those with physical or mental impairments, learning difficulties, ADHD, or ASD.
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials and managing school equipment.
  • Record and report students' progress to the teacher.
  • Help students stay focused during class hours and support teachers in managing student behaviour.
  • Work with students to improve core skills such as reading and writing.
  • Look after and manage students who may be unwell or upset.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or equivalent.
  • Genuine interest in working with children with Special Educational Needs.
