Senior Officer for International Relations: South Asia

The role involves direct collaboration with the International Recruitment Manager (IRM) for South and South East Asia (SASEA) and other IRMs and Senior International Officers (SIOs) to achieve institutional and College objectives aligned with the University's International Recruitment Strategies and established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Key responsibilities include identifying and fostering partnerships with significant institutions, agents, government bodies, and other stakeholders both within and outside the University.
The position supports the execution of the institution's internationalization strategic goals while providing a welcoming and efficient service to international students and visitors. Primary Responsibilities 1.Assist in the strategic planning and operational oversight of the University's promotional and student recruitment initiatives in South and South East Asia, contributing to the enhancement of overall institutional objectives.
2.Select, train, and manage the performance of University representatives across the South and South East Asia, ensuring collaboration with high-performing agents.
3.Establish and maintain relationships and agreements with key government ministries (both domestically and in the UK), agencies, and major sponsorship organizations, negotiating suitable financial arrangements and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
4.Provide effective and empowering management support to in-country teams.
5.Represent the University at educational fairs and recruitment events, delivering presentations and making offers as necessary; coordinate visits from other University staff to the assigned region, producing timely and comprehensive reports post-visit.
6.Identify and cultivate suitable partners across South and South East Asia and other global regions for the international summer school, focusing on in-demand courses.
7.Collaborate with colleagues in External Relations to enhance the service and information provided to international applicants, increasing the acceptance of offers for all study levels through tailored conversion strategies.
8.Assist the IRM in managing and overseeing the recruitment budget for the designated region.
9.Provide strategic statistical and trend analysis related to market responsibilities and recommend policy changes as necessary, including admissions criteria and fees.
10.Through regular meetings, advise key personnel within the Colleges and other Services on the development of international recruitment strategies and inform them of new program opportunities through market analysis.
11.Manage visits to the University by key partners and stakeholders in collaboration with the Head of International Recruitment, the International Recruitment Managers, and the International Partnerships & Policy Manager.
12.Act as a deputy for the International Recruitment Manager as required.
13.Represent the University in professional groups, sector-wide forums, and committees as necessary.
14.Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.
Required Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Essential: A1 Degree-level education or postgraduate/professional qualification/Higher degree or relevant experience. A2 Current knowledge of Higher Education systems. A3 Understanding of the UK Higher Education system and application processes (e.g., UCAS).
A4 Awareness of the broader external market environment. Desirable: B1 Understanding of the University of Glasgow. B2 Knowledge of institutional and College strategic priorities. B3 In-depth knowledge of the University's degree programs and research strengths.
Essential Skills:
C1 Advanced negotiation skills. C2 Project management capabilities. C3 Ability to identify market trends and generate innovative solutions. C4 Proven high-level communication skills acquired through representational and negotiation activities. C5 Excellent analytical, time management, administrative, and organizational skills. Essential Experience:
E1 Relevant broad professional/management experience in a similar or related role, with evidence of progression and development through extensive relevant experience. E2 Experience in a Higher Education recruitment/marketing office. E3 Experience in market development and relationship management. E4 Significant experience in event attendance and public speaking. E5 Experience in budget management. E6 Experience in leading or initiating projects with measurable outcomes across wider teams. Desirable: F1 Experience in cross-cultural business transactions. F2 International work experience. F3 Some experience in people management. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 7, £39,347 - £44,263 per annum. This position is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended. Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
