We work with pharmaceutical, medical device, and consumer health companies, government agencies, medical societies, and advocacy organizations. Our therapeutic areas include: CNS; dermatology; gastro-enterology; haemophilia; immunology; liver disease; oncology; ophthalmology; rare diseases; respiratory; and urology.

The Scientific Director is a key role within our agency. You will have excellent writing skills and a broad understanding of clinical medicine with extensive experience. Working as an independent editorial lead across a range of projects, you will take pride in delivering exceptional work and will be highly organized and forward-thinking to ensure that all deliverables meet your clients' needs.

You will work with a talented team and be supported by people who have enormous experience and expertise to share.

Key Responsibilities

Editorial Proficiency

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive editorial strategy to ensure high-quality written content across all projects.
  • Provide expert editorial guidance, including strategic insights on written material across the team and to senior management.
  • Develop tailored solutions to meet client needs and improve clarity of project outcomes.
  • Confidently review and sign off written work from other members of the editorial team.

Strategic and Scientific Leadership

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients as a trusted scientific partner and advisor.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of clients' scientific strategies and provide expert counsel.
  • Provide scientific counsel and expertise to the wider HU team as the content lead.
  • Acknowledge as the internal expert across several therapy areas.
  • Proactively develop existing accounts through identification of opportunities for growth and conversion into new or ongoing work from clients.

Leadership and Team Responsibilities

  • Mentor and line-manage team members within the company, helping to develop their writing ability and editorial experience through coaching and experience building.
  • Ensure the highest scientific standards and clinical accuracy across projects and teams.
  • Proactively identify ways to improve the efficiency and quality of the scientific content team.
  • Provide guidance to accounts teams on optimal project management, including inputting into budgets, timelines, and project planning.

New Business Responsibilities

  • Lead the scientific understanding and story for new business proposals.
  • Generate new ideas and proposals for organic growth with existing clients.
  • Successfully pitch for new business and present proposals.
