Job Summary:
H9 Technical Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our client's Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plant in Bristol. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently, while maintaining compliance with all environmental regulations and permits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the safe and efficient operation of the plant, ensuring all operational aspects and processes are in place.
- Manage a team of circa 20 operations staff, including shift teams and operations day staff, to ensure the plant operates within environmental regulations at all times.
- Liaise with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant personnel to coordinate projects, maintenance, outages, costing, and programming of plant improvements.
- Monitor plant efficiency and direct operations staff to optimize power production accordingly.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for the Operations department, ensuring it is reviewed and worked within.
- Conduct annual performance reviews with operations staff to ensure they are meeting their performance goals.
Requirements:
- Relevant engineering or technical qualification at degree/HND/HNC level.
- IOSH or NEBOSH or similar certification in Health & Safety.
- A full driving license is essential, as travel to other sites may be required.
- Extensive operations experience in the power generation or waste/recycling industry, including CCGT, coal, CHP, energy from waste, or biomass.
- Knowledge of environmental permits, H&S issues, and safe working environments.
- Experience in managing budgets and training and developing staff.
- Supervisory/management experience in the power generation or waste sector.
