As a key member of the GE Aviation team, you will play a critical role in the design and development of advanced propeller systems for regional airliners and military transport utility aircraft. Your expertise in electrical engineering will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of these systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and review Interface Controls Documents for propeller control systems and de-icing systems.
- Develop and review Electrical/Electronic requirements for propeller control systems and de-icing systems.
- Provide electrical technical oversight of suppliers of sensors and effectors to GE Aviation.
- Provide electrical/electronic technical oversight of suppliers of Avionic boxes to GE Aviation.
- Develop and review DO-160 qualification test procedures and reports for GE Aviation products, including support to qualification testing.
- Provide electrical support to GE Aviation's in-service products.
- Lead research and development activities for new technology electrical items within propeller systems.
- Provide electrical/electronic support to the wider controls team research and development activities for new technology for propeller control systems and de-icing systems.
- Provide customer support for electrical/electronic propeller system elements, including support to engine testing and aircraft testing.
- Act as a Certification Verification Engineer for electrical/electronic propeller system elements.
- Degree in Electronics and/or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge, with significant experience in engineering for safety-critical electrical and electronic products.
- In-depth experience of owning and leading electrical design elements for aerospace systems.
- Previous design and/or experience in aviation electrical systems or a similar highly regulated industry.
- Good problem-solving and solution-building skills.
- Understanding of generic system design philosophy and lifecycle from concept through to commissioning.
- Capabilities and limitations of avionics communication busses.
- EMI/HIRF in a propeller environment and implication for propeller control systems and de-icing.
- Power distribution in de-icing and propeller systems.
- Electrical interfaces between sensors, effectors, and control units.
- Motion and displacement sensing technologies.
- Electric motors, controllers, and associated modeling.
- Electronic control for hydraulic systems.
- Direct and indirect effects of lightning strikes.
- Electrical and electronic design for safety-critical systems.
