Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Residential Practitioner to lead our team of care practitioners in providing high-quality care to vulnerable young people in a secure children's home. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily lives and long-term outlook of our young people, who may have complex needs and display challenging behaviors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the care team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care in a safe and secure environment.
  • Work closely with the Team Manager to develop and implement strategies to promote positive outcomes for our young people.
  • Manage staff performance, provide training and development opportunities, and support with recruitment and staff development.
  • Ensure key working and case management practices are in place to protect young people, minimize risk, and promote positive outcomes.
  • Develop and implement proactive strategies to manage behavior and promote positive relationships with young people.
  • Provide primary care responsive to individual needs, including healthcare, learning support, and personal development.
  • Coordinate activities to enhance young people's experiences and promote their personal growth and learning.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a residential childcare environment, supporting children or young people with complex and challenging behaviors.
  • Understanding of child and adolescent development, restorative and trauma-informed practice, and relevant legislation and policies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with young people, staff, and other professionals.
  • Self-awareness and ability to reflect on own practice, with a commitment to ongoing learning and development.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, bank holidays, and nights.
