About Oxfordshire County Council

Are you ready to transform social care delivery?
Oxfordshire County Council is embarking on an innovative journey aimed at Delivering the Future Together, a comprehensive transformation initiative designed to position us as a leading employer and partner in the community. We are in search of dedicated individuals who can contribute to this vision while embodying our core value of 'daring to do it differently' as we continuously strive for improvement.

In the realm of Adult Services, we are committed to redefining adult social care by empowering residents of Oxfordshire to maintain their health, fitness, and independence within their communities through a strengths-based methodology. Collaborating with local NHS services, care providers, and community organizations, we harness our collective strengths, working towards a unified vision.

Our approach places the individuals we support at the center of our efforts. By actively listening and focusing on the positive aspects of their lives, we collaborate to help them achieve their desired lifestyles with the appropriate support systems in place.

This philosophy, known as the Oxfordshire Way, is a collaborative effort that allows everyone to make a significant impact. We are ambitious and continuously seek to enhance our services; this ambition is ingrained in our organizational culture.

Role Overview

Our team empowers you to create tailored solutions that assist individuals in reaching their personal goals and outcomes.

We achieve this by granting you the autonomy to perform your duties, innovate, and explore new methodologies, all supported by our stable leadership team, regular group and individual supervision, and opportunities for professional development across various areas of Adult Social Care. Working with Oxfordshire County Council opens doors to diverse opportunities within Social Care, including leadership roles, clinical assessments, work in correctional facilities, seating assessments, mobility assistance, and assistive technology.

No two days are alike at Oxfordshire County Council. Regardless of your career aspirations in adult social care, we are here to support and empower you to take charge of your professional growth.

As a financially stable local authority, our investment in Adult Services has led to multiple openings; we are seeking both Newly Qualified and Experienced Occupational Therapists and Social Workers to join our teams during this exciting phase.

In collaboration with Occupational Therapists and Social Workers within a locality, hospital environment, or safeguarding team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Empowering community members to recognize their strengths and desired outcomes, while embracing innovative ideas and methods to enhance and sustain their independence.
  • Utilizing a strengths-based approach to foster individuals' well-being and assist them in achieving their goals.
  • Supporting individuals and caregivers to ensure their voices are represented through advocacy when necessary.

About You

You are:

  • Motivated to innovate and discover creative solutions that involve the individual in the process rather than imposing solutions upon them.
  • Accountable and a self-starter, with aspirations to lead initiatives in various aspects of adult social care.
  • Compassionate and understanding, respecting the unique qualities, abilities, and diverse backgrounds of individuals.
  • An advocate for equality and integrity, possessing strong communication skills to collaborate effectively for optimal outcomes.
  • Committed to continuous learning, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines, complemented by entrepreneurial qualities.
  • Passionate about adhering to the professional standards set by RCOT and HCPC.

Our Rewards and Benefits

We offer up to 33 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with the option to purchase additional days.

  • Membership in the Local Government contributory pension scheme, with employer contributions of up to 19.9%.
  • A relocation package of up to £8,000 for eligible newly appointed employees (conditions apply).
  • Regular formal and informal support and supervision sessions.
  • Access to local and national discounts for shopping and travel.
  • Extensive opportunities for Continuous Professional Development, including a career progression scheme with options to train as a Practice Educator, Best Interest Assessor, or Adult Mental Health Practitioner.

Interested in Returning to Practice?
If you are a qualified Social Worker or Occupational Therapist looking to re-enter Adult Social Care and require support to re-register with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), we would like to hear from you.
