Job Title: Senior Library Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Library Assistant to join our Outreach Library team based in Eltham Library. This is a part-time opportunity (18 hours) for a skilled individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver library services to housebound customers, residential care homes, schools, and nurseries, adapting to the diversity of customers and their requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver reading/listening choices to customers, observing Road Traffic Acts and following instructions from the police and traffic wardens.
  • Be responsible for the serviceability and security of the vehicle, carrying out routine safety and maintenance checks, and reporting any defects.
  • Assist the public in person and by telephone, providing helpful and courteous service in accordance with GLL customer care policies.
  • Keep up-to-date with and understand the duties and responsibilities of the role, including child protection and safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults.
  • Carry out all duties with due regard for Health and Safety requirements and regulations, and GLL's Society Customer Care Charter and Equal Opportunities Policy.
Requirements:
  • Library experience
  • Clean driving license
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children and vulnerable adults
  • Administrative skills
  • A passion for libraries and community engagement
  • The ability to work alone
