Imports Administrator

Become a key player in our client's rapidly growing logistics team, working alongside internal teams and external freight carriers to ensure seamless movement of goods.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Imports Administrator to join our Import Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations of the Ricardo Duty Management System, ensuring all import entries are raised and completed by due dates, and maintaining commodity codes and classification of new products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the Ricardo Duty Management System and submit reports to HMRC
  • Ensure timely completion of import entries and maintenance of commodity codes
  • Raise and send import instructions to agents, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements
  • Authorise and verify customs clearance agencies' use of the deferment account
  • Support the company's compliance practices and maintain accurate records for audit and trade compliance purposes
  • Liaise with suppliers, shipping lines, and haulers regarding the movement of goods
  • Process and finalise insurance claims as necessary
  • Provide guidance and support to internal and external customers on HM Customs requirements
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a UK Imports administration role
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, with attention to detail
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal and IT skills
  • Team player with a flexible approach and strong problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of Duty Deferment for HMRC, Incoterms, and Tariff codes (desirable)
  • Experience working in an organisation that buys and sells large volumes worldwide (desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills (desirable)
  • SAP or Ricardo experience (desirable)
What We Offer

Up to £15.40 per hour PAYE, depending on experience, with umbrella rates available. A 6-month contract with a high likelihood of extension for the right candidate.

37 hours a week, with flexibility around start and finish times. A dynamic and impactful role in a rapidly growing logistics team, with opportunities for professional growth and development.
