We are seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Scientist to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our scientific and clinical team, you will play a vital role in contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Key Responsibilities- Support and train new and less experienced staff in bacteriological laboratory techniques.
- Operate a range of laboratory analysers and equipment, including complex equipment.
- Provide specialist bacteriological advice to service users, including medical staff and other departments.
- Participate in the development and implementation of laboratory procedures and protocols.
- Contribute to the maintenance of high-quality laboratory services, adhering to UKAS, GMP, and UKBTS standards.
- HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with a broad knowledge and experience in bacteriology and bacterial identification.
- Experience in prioritising and issuing work to other staff and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines are met.
- Understanding of UK Accreditation Service (UKAS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Good Laboratory Practice, and UK Blood Transfusion Service (UKBTS).
- Experience of training and mentoring staff.
- Science graduate with relevant post-graduate training in bacteriology and bacterial identification.
