Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our dynamic team in Microbiology at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Registered Biomedical Scientist, you will be responsible for working in a clinical laboratory, deploying in Bacteriology, and participating in a 24/7 shift system, including weekend, night, late, and bank holiday working.

Main Responsibilities

As a Biomedical Scientist, you will rotate through various sections of the Bacteriology laboratory, under the supervision of the Senior BMS. You will be expected to have good knowledge and experience of working in a clinical laboratory, with a completed IBMS registration portfolio. You will also be required to participate in quality management systems, health and safety issues, and continuing professional development.

Requirements
  1. Essential: An honours degree or equivalent in a biological science
  2. HCPC Registration

  1. Essential: Competence in PC word processing, spreadsheet, and database software
  2. Accuracy and attention to detail
  3. Able to follow written methodologies or protocols
  4. Able to work as part of a team
  5. Able to work under pressure
  6. Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work
  7. Intermediate level of computer skills
  8. Excellent communication and presentation skills
  9. Use of enhanced pathology computer systems
Working Environment

The department offers the latest equipment in the Microbiology field, including three Kiestra lines, MALDI-ToF technology, Uri-system, BD FX, and MGIT. The department also offers an extensive screening programme for latent TB for the London region.
