Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering Department at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out scheduled and pre-planned maintenance activities, attending to reactive works across the Trust's estate, and ensuring the effective maintenance of the Trust's technical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support the team manager to ensure the day-to-day efficient and safe working of all plumbing plant onsite.
  2. Carry out Conditioned-Based Maintenance (CBM) duties for water treatment systems and plant.
  3. Carry out Conditioned-Based Maintenance (CBM) duties for swimming pools.
  4. Be fully conversant with all types of drainage and sewage ejectors.
  5. Carry out routine maintenance (Preventive Maintenance) of mechanical plant, as directed by team manager.
  6. Attend to plant and equipment breakdowns and carry out repair and restoration work as quickly and efficiently as possible.
  7. Strip down and clean/disinfect plumbing equipment, such as Thermometer-Actuated Valves (TMVs) and tap fixtures.
  8. Work with a range of other craftspeople.
  9. Conversant with Hot Water Systems, Mixed Temperature Hot Water Systems, and Low Pressure Hot Water Systems.
  10. Clear blockages, when required.
  11. Be able to work overtime at short notice, if available to do so, depending on the needs of the Trust.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a strong background in plumbing and mechanical services, with experience in maintenance and repair of complex systems. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. A strong understanding of health and safety protocols and procedures is essential.
