About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Photonics Engineer to join our team at Zero Point Motion, a cutting-edge technology company specializing in MEMS/PIC inertial sensor devices. As a key member of our technical team, you will be responsible for designing and testing MOEMS inertial sensors for high-volume commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and test custom components using foundry PDKs and custom process flows
  • Collaborate with the MEMS and Process teams to contribute to the overall design, layout, and testing of our unique PIC/MEMS devices
  • Analyze experimental data and debug discrepancies with simulation
  • Improve input/output performances of photonic integrated circuits through novel component design
Requirements
  • Masters/PhD in Physics or Engineering
  • PIC design, tape-out, and experimental testing experience (3+ years preferable)
  • Experience working within small engineering teams or research groups
  • Strong discipline for thorough documentation and effective communication of scientific information
  • Highly adaptable, good communication, and interpersonal skills

Location and Travel

Our office and lab space is located in the Bristol University Quantum Technologies Innovation Center, surrounded by like-minded start-up companies. Occasional travel throughout the UK and abroad may be required for conferences, meetings, and engineering visits.
