Job Summary:

Verto People is seeking a highly skilled Naval Architect/Senior Naval Architect to join our team in Portsmouth. As a key member of our Oceangoing Vessels Team, you will be responsible for designing the structural integration of wind-assisted propulsion systems on new and existing oceangoing vessels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop structural designs for oceangoing vessels, ensuring safety, functionality, and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with shipyards, classification societies, and other stakeholders to provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess and validate structural designs in line with industry standards and engineering best practices.
  • Ensure that all project deliverables meet commercial requirements, including timelines, quality standards, and budget restraints.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in designing ship structures in accordance with CSR rules.
  • Familiarity with classification society rules for ship design.
  • Experience with advanced FEA software such as Siemens NX or Nastran is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of ship cargo handling systems and their impact on structural design.
  • Previous experience in a shipyard or design office environment is preferred.
  • Experience in the development and design of merchant vessels, especially bulk carriers and tankers, is desirable.
