Westlakes Recruit is actively seeking skilled Cost Management Specialists at various experience levels. This position is a permanent opportunity that supports a hybrid working model.


The successful candidate will be expected to cultivate strong collaborative relationships with project teams, internal stakeholders, and client representatives, showcasing exceptional technical expertise essential for the role.

This position offers the chance to engage in multiple projects, from the initial tender preparation and negotiation phases through to project delivery and completion.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to ensure adherence to best practices and consistency across the business unit, driving continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching to operational personnel regarding contract management, administration, risk assessment, procurement, forecasting, and profitability.
  • Assist the Project Controls Manager in generating monthly project cost reports.
  • Establish necessary sub-contract arrangements utilizing the NEC suite of Contract Documents.
  • Implement proper administrative processes for managing sub-contracts, focusing on change controls, early warnings, compensation events, scope changes, and payment processes.
  • Support the Project Manager in addressing commercial disputes with clients and developing strategies to mitigate litigation risks.
  • Oversee subcontracts from order placement to final account settlement, ensuring close collaboration with procurement, planning, and delivery teams to meet project specifications.
  • Work alongside Business Development and Operations to create value propositions that enhance our clients' competitive edge.

Qualifications:

  • Degree qualified in commerce, finance, engineering, quantity surveying, or law is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity with recognized main contractors.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction and contract law, particularly various NEC Conditions of Contract.
  • Proficiency in cost forecasting, reporting, control, risk management, and contract documentation preparation.
  • Security clearance or the capability to obtain the necessary level of clearance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility in working hours.
  • Experience with NEC3 contracts is essential.
