This is a full-time, permanent position.

Role Overview

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Café Manager is to support the overall management of the PROPER JOB Café. This includes empowering adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to achieve meaningful work-related outcomes, thereby enhancing their quality of life. The position entails overseeing the daily operations of a training café, which involves planning, preparing, and serving a diverse menu of meals and snacks while maintaining high standards of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist the manager in the daily oversight of staff performance, including development, appraisals, and attendance management.

- Assume responsibility for café operations in the absence of the manager.

- Propose and implement strategies for the café's growth and improvement.

- Maintain accurate records for service users and staff, including training and leave documentation.

- Manage inventory by ordering supplies and ensuring proper stock rotation.

- Provide a variety of baked goods, snacks, and light meals in response to customer preferences.

- Adhere to food safety standards and maintain cleanliness throughout the café.

- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and deliver training and work experience programs.

- Treat all individuals with respect, dignity, and compassion.

- Perform additional reasonable duties as required.

- Comply with the organization's policies on safeguarding vulnerable individuals.

- Follow all relevant health and safety regulations.

Candidate Profile

- Possess a Level CIEH qualification or equivalent practical experience.

- Previous experience in staff management is essential.

- Ability to maintain records and basic accounting documentation.

- Familiarity with relevant legislation, including health and safety and safeguarding protocols.

- Understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in the workplace.

- Training or knowledge in appropriate interactions with individuals with learning disabilities and autism.

- Competence in nutrition and the ability to create balanced meal options.

- Experience in stock management and order fulfillment.

- Strong organizational skills and effective time management.

- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.

- Excellent communication skills and a diplomatic approach.

- Flexibility in duties and a willingness to adapt to service needs.

Additional Information

- Competency in IT and Microsoft Office is advantageous.

- Willingness to pursue training in First Aid, Manual Handling, Equality & Diversity, and COSHH.
