The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Head of Product and Engineering to lead our software engineering strategy, aligned to business goals and objectives. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for developing our software engineering strategy, leading our engineering team, and owning and optimizing our GCP spend.
You will work closely with our co-founders, customers, and clients to gather requirements and define upcoming product releases. You will also be responsible for communicating the technical strategy, roadmap, status, risks, and opportunities to the wider business.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape our entire line of products and drive technical direction in a fast-growing organization. As a hands-on leader, you will be responsible for setting the vision and direction for our product and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with other leaders in the business to define, build, and own the technical strategy that aligns with the business objectives.
- Oversee the development and infrastructure of our web solutions and internal tools.
- Manage the Software Engineering team, including technical leadership, workload planning, recruitment, and professional development.
- Work cross-collaboratively with all other Evident teams to gather requirements and define upcoming product releases.
- Lead on the implementation of best practices and high-quality code standards.
- Communicate the technical strategy, roadmap, status, risks, and opportunities to the wider business.
- Work closely with our co-founders, customers, and clients to map requirements and build user stories.
- Own our GCP infrastructure, optimizing for security and cost.
- Direct the product roadmap, prioritize features, and coordinate product schedules with the wider business.
- Continuously assess systems, solutions, and business processes and look for improvements.
- Significant experience in software engineering, with at least 1+ years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience owning product roadmaps.
- Strong technical expertise in building scalable systems.
- Proficiency in Django (Python) and knowledge of React.
- Experience in managing and building with the GCP suite of services (App Engine and GKE are very beneficial).
- Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience in Agile methodologies.
- Knowledge of and experience implementing cloud security best practices.
- Significant experience in product development and management.
- Ability to translate business strategy into product strategy.
- Track record of executing product strategy, product launches, and contributing to go-to-market strategy.
- Experience working in a startup/small team.
- Experience working in a DevOps environment.
- Experience managing product profitability and commercial success (owning the business case).
- Understanding of the key issues facing leadership teams in global companies on topics related to artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies.
- Building products in any of the following:
- Start-up environment.
- Market research/media company.
- Consulting in Financial Services companies on topics such as AI and digital transformation.
