About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our team at Marshall Land Systems. As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of projects, ensuring timely delivery of equipment versions/variants to agreed project timescales within a larger programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assigned as Project IPT lead, responsible for the Project deliverables.
  • Responsible for assigned project requirements (e.g. technical, commercial, project management, delivery etc., both internal & external), ensuring they are clearly understood from the outset and documented in the appropriate Project Documentation set.
  • Lead the Project assigned IPT for the designated/assigned Project; working with the lead Programme Manager/Director and functional teams to form the Organisational Breakdown Structure and the associated Responsibility Matrix (RAM) ensuring this is reflective within the PMP.
  • Manage and resolve matters relating to costs, work schedules, commercial technical and production issues.
  • Working with the assigned Procurement & Supply Chain colleagues, support the delivery of subcontracts, and subcontract relationships, as required, ensuring delivery is in line with project and overall programme needs.
  • Ownership of the Project budget, leading and approving allocation to the appropriate Work Package and associated WBS items. Ensuring BAC, BAC(changes), EAC and ETCs are reviewed and reported accurately with any cost variance clearly understood; ensuring parametric and trend analysis results are fully utilised with little to no 'opinion based' reporting. Generation of monthly SPI, CPI, whole EVM and CPA data as required from the integrated project schedules.
  • Management of all other project financial targets in support of Revenue, Cash and Margin.
  • Proactively and effectively lead all associated bid, project and programme risks - with clear definition of risk description, cause, consequence (cost and schedule impacts) and mitigation plans; collaborating with assigned Project IPT colleagues – in particular assigned Project Controller(s) and Project Planner(s).
  • Accountable for the Project Change Management regime (including maintenance of the Project Performance Measurement Baseline). Leading the Project IPT in monitoring of 'Change' in time, cost, quality [technical and contractual changes], ensuring a concise historical and future-state of 'Project Change' is fully documented to enable the incorporation of all authorised changes.
  • Deputise for lead Programme Manager/Director for the Programme as required for events, absence periods (e.g., vacation) and other tasks and activities as drawn up by the lead Programme Manager/Director.
  • Undertake additional activities as required by line management, the Business Line Director and the Central Operations Leadership Team.
  • Support the adherence of the Lifecycle Management (LCM) Processes. Preparing and managing the tailored processes through governance sign-off.
  • Support the co-ordination of resource requirements - ensuring data inputs are submitted to the IBP team for the bids and projects within the programme; presenting IBP foresight for upcoming activities.
  • Support and manage effective 'Lessons Learned' (LFE - Learning From Experience) activities.
Requirements
  • Experienced in 'front line' project management roles, ideally in the defence domain – undertaking delivery roles in one or more of a combination in Bids, Projects, project-engineering / equipment-engineering, production and delivery.
  • Some knowledge of engineering development techniques for projects including: technical requirements management, development and qualification validation and verification phases, technical risk, concurrency of design and production, project planning, project control, change management, performance measurement, cost control and risk & opportunity management.
  • Awareness of post-delivery support such as in-service product modification, with an understanding of DRACAS (Data Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System).
  • Worked within, or lead multi-functional teams in a collaborative matrix-managed 'IPT' environment.
  • Ideally, experience of procurement and supply-chain contract delivery and manufacturing processes in principle. Experience of the full product development lifecycle of complex integrated systems; New Product Development (NPD) and New Production Introduction (NPI).
  • Some experience with reading and interpreting reports from Project Scheduling tools (e.g. MSP, P6 Primavera) and Integrated Baseline Planning (IBP).
  • Knowledgeable in EVM, SPI and CPI, SRA and CPA and explain their full terms and how they are set up and exercised on a Project.
  • Experienced in managing a project plan, creating control objectives to ensure successful project execution.
  • Has some experience in Risk Management within a project. Ability in identifying risks (and opportunities) associated with a project and supporting the development of risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans; awareness of Risk Adjusted Scheduling.
  • Desirable but not essential, APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ), or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP); including APM Risk Level 2.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of systems engineering and how to apply in a Project environment.
