About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Licensing Officer to join our team at South Gloucestershire Council. As a key member of our Licensing Services team, you will play a vital role in shaping and improving our licensing service to ensure we provide a consistent and effective service across the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice to a wide range of service users, including council colleagues, local businesses, and members of the community, ensuring strong relationships are established and maintained.
  • Manage a small team of Licensing Officers and Assistants, providing guidance and support to ensure work remains at a high standard.
  • Undertake frontline operational work, working closely with the Licensing Services Manager to ensure effective delivery of our licensing service.
  • Provide clear and consistent technical guidance to colleagues, contributing towards the development of procedures and innovative solutions for technical issues.
  • Work within the local community outside of office hours, as required.
Requirements
  • Relevant degree qualification (or equivalent) or strong understanding of licensing enforcement.
  • Considerable experience in licensing, with the ability to take the lead in areas of licensing.
  • Experience of managing people or projects (desirable).
