Job Title: Lead Flight Test Engineer

Thales is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Flight Test Engineer to join our Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) Trials and Training Centre (UTTC) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the planning and execution of flight trials, ensuring the safe and efficient testing of UAS systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and conduct flight trials, including the development of trials instructions, risk and hazard assessments, and technical notes.
  • Brief and conduct UAS flight test sorties as part of the Ground Control Station (GCS) test crew.
  • Analyse flight trial data and write post-flight reports, as well as flight test reports.
  • Provide leadership and management to junior Flight Test Engineers.
Requirements:
  • Graduate Flight Test Engineer of a recognised Test Pilot School, or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • Significant flight trials experience as an FTE, including all aspects of flight test planning, conduct, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent English language written and spoken communication skills.
  • A high level of skill in using modern software applications and tools, particularly in analysing and presenting data gained in flight test.
