About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our team in Colchester. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the classroom teacher in delivering high-quality lessons and providing individualized support to students who require extra help.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the classroom teacher in planning and preparing learning materials, ensuring a smooth and effective learning environment.
  • Lead small group sessions and provide one-on-one support to students, promoting engagement and motivation.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student behavior and engagement, working closely with the classroom teacher and other support staff.
  • Assist in planning and preparing learning materials, including lesson plans and resources.
  • Provide cover for lessons in the absence of the teacher, ensuring continuity of education and minimizing disruption to students.
Requirements
  • A recognized HLTA qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills, including Maths and English GCSE graded 4 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with children in an educational setting, with a proven track record of supporting student learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other support staff.
  • An understanding of strategies to support student behavior and engagement, with a commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
