Mental Health Matters is in search of dedicated evening personnel to support a year-round service. This initiative aims to offer an alternative to emergency departments through compassionate, individualized assistance and recovery strategies.
Key Responsibilities
As a Crisis Support Specialist, your role will involve delivering a high-quality, recovery-oriented service to individuals facing various mental health challenges, including those with autistic characteristics, learning disabilities, physical health concerns, and substance use issues. Your focus will be on fostering independence and social integration.
You should possess experience in a community-based mental health environment, enabling you to motivate, engage, and inspire individuals effectively. Your responsibilities will include:
- One-on-one engagement with clients to understand their needs and aspirations.
- Facilitating activities both within the service and in the wider community.
- Performing administrative duties and providing guidance to clients regarding available resources.
- Collaborating with Peer Support Workers and fellow Crisis Support Specialists to ensure the highest standard of personalized care.
- Supporting individuals in a crisis drop-in center, focusing on non-clinical interventions to alleviate immediate distress.
- Offering information, safety planning, and referrals to meet the holistic needs of clients and their families.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a background in mental health support, demonstrating the ability to inspire and engage individuals while recognizing and addressing their unique challenges. Key qualifications include:
- Experience working with diverse populations, including those with complex needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A full driving license and access to transportation.
- A qualification in Health and Social Care at level 2 or 3, with a willingness to pursue further development.
