Position Overview

Research England, a pivotal entity within UK Research and Innovation, plays a significant role in the research funding landscape. The Director of Knowledge Exchange will spearhead the strategic direction and implementation of knowledge exchange initiatives, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of UKRI and the higher education sector in England.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic vision and execution of knowledge exchange policies, fostering collaboration among stakeholders and enhancing the impact of Research England's Strategic Delivery Plans.
  • Serve as a recognized authority in the university sector and government policy, providing intellectual leadership in knowledge exchange and commercialization both nationally and internationally.
  • Oversee the knowledge exchange teams, ensuring effective management of technical and operational aspects related to the Council's mission.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive data and evidence program for knowledge exchange, engaging with key partners and stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated experience in research related to knowledge exchange and commercialization, with a strong background in science policy roles.
  • In-depth understanding of the knowledge exchange landscape, including national and university-level policy and practices, and the interplay between universities, research, and societal needs.
  • Proven track record in managing complex programs at a systemic level, adept at navigating change while aligning multiple teams towards long-term strategic goals.
  • Experience in governance within public or third sector organizations, particularly in the strategic management of funding and programs within universities and research institutions.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a competitive salary of £92,000, complemented by a substantial contribution of £24,840 towards membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
