Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Programme and Portfolio Manager to join our enthusiastic team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering exciting transformational change programmes that will increase operational and clinical effectiveness and help to save and improve lives.

About the Role

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery of large-scale change programmes within NHSBT. You will work closely with the Programme Director, SRO, Programme Board, and delivery team to design and deliver transformation programmes that achieve their outcomes and benefits in line with the overall NHSBT strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design and delivery of transformation programmes to achieve their outcomes and benefits.
  • Provide leadership support to the Programme Director and guidance on programme development and issue resolution.
  • Assure project and programme products, including tracking, monitoring, and reporting of programme milestones, budgets, and outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain realistic programme delivery plans with support from key stakeholders.
  • Manage interfaces and communications with senior stakeholders, including the SRO, Business Leads, and Delivery Leads.
  • Lead project managers to deliver their projects successfully and develop a highly motivated and performing team.
  • Communicate service-related information to decision makers, the Programme Management Office, Business Lead, programme, and project teams.
  • Develop and manage partnerships with external suppliers.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of NHSBT Portfolio, Programme, and Project Management tools and methods.
Requirements
  • Experience in leading people change, estates programme, and support operating model design.
  • Experience of developing and maintaining strategic plans for programmes, ensuring they support business strategies and objectives.
  • Experience of leading a diverse group to support the implementation of large-scale complex transformation programmes.
  • Extensive experience of creating quality business cases working with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of capturing business requirements and business benefits management and realisation.
  • Extensive experience of working with various project methodologies, tools, and standards for whole life cycle and in programme management.
  • Experience of leading, influencing, and motivating multiple diverse specialists across teams to deliver programme outcomes.
  • Experience of supplier management.
  • Knowledge and experience of applying best practice in issues, risks, and dependency management.
  • Experience of resource management and budget management, including reporting progress.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office products, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications and Training
  • Master's degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
  • Practitioner Certificate in Prince 2.
  • Practitioner certification 'Managing Successful Programmes.'
  • Practitioner certificate in 'Management of Risk' or equivalent experience in effective risk management.
