Documentation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Documentation Officer to join our team at the Science Museum Group's National Collections Centre. As a key member of our Documentation team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and consistency of our collections data.
As a Documentation Officer, you will be responsible for working with diverse collections data across the organisation, championing our cataloguing and documentation standards, and using your data skills to support the Conservation team in building and improving the information we hold and share about our collections.
You will be working on a project to develop a comprehensive hazardous materials library and dataset, which will be shared with the wider sector to raise awareness and increase research and understanding. This project will help to increase access and knowledge of these fascinating but hazardous collections.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have some experience of museum documentation and cataloguing, as well as an interest in developing data management skills. You will also have experience of handling museum collections, including an awareness of basic collections care, and good IT skills, data skills, and the ability to work with a Collections Management System.
You will be a strong communicator and team player, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation. You will also have a passion for collections data and a desire to make a positive impact on the way we care for and share our collections.
