About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Registered Learning Disability Nurse to join our team in the Cardiff area.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, and a forensic history.

The Registered Nurse will work as part of a seven-day service, which includes working weekends, nights, and bank holidays.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Manage the ward for a span of duty and liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver specialist healthcare to meet the needs of patients.
  2. Promote equality for all service users through anti-discriminatory practice, supporting individuals' rights, choices, beliefs, and identity.
  3. Demonstrate excellent communication skills, a positive attitude to working with people with challenging behaviour, and experience of working effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment.

Job Requirements
  1. Effectively manage the ward for a span of duty, ensuring adequate staffing within resources, liaison with all other Health Care Professionals, responding to queries from patients' relatives/carers, and ensuring that all care is delivered to the highest standard.
  2. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver specialist care to meet the needs of people with a learning disability who are in need of inpatient services.
  3. Implement operational policies and clinical pathways to ensure evidence-based practice and provide feedback to support the review of such policies.
  4. Adhere to the NMC Professional Code of Conduct and maintain accurate records, participate in supervision, and ensure continued professional development is maintained.
  5. Support and supervise Health Care Support Workers to deliver care by acting as a positive role model, following evidence-based practice.
