Financial Controller Job Description

Direct Response is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Controller to join their dynamic team based in Frome. As a key member of the finance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial stability and growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the Finance & Administration Director and wider management to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
  • Lead a team of 5 and oversee all aspects of finance across both UK sites, ensuring compliance with internal, group, and external audit requirements.
  • Develop and maintain long-term plans, budgets, and forecasts to drive business performance and growth.
  • Produce high-quality financial reports, including weekly, monthly, and annual management and financial reporting, to inform business decisions.
  • Monitor and analyse cost performance and KPIs versus budget and standards, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as needed.
Requirements:
  • Qualified/Part Qualified with a recognised professional accounting body (ACCA/CIMA) or QBE, accompanied by a good general standard of education.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to commercial, operational, and other non-finance staff.
  • Experience of credit and transactional management, with the ability to prioritise and organise a large workload.
  • Experience of working in a FMCG manufacturing environment, with 24/7 activity an advantage.
  • A good general understanding of IT systems and software, with proficiency in MS Excel.
