We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join our team at the University of Birmingham. As a key member of our IT Services department, you will play a critical role in providing financial management and analysis support to our teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to support business decision-making.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Financial Planning and Budgeting
    • Develop and manage budgets for IT Services projects and initiatives.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify financial requirements and develop financial plans.
  • Financial Operations
    • Manage financial transactions, including journal entries and financial corrections.
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Financial Guidance and Support
    • Provide financial guidance and support to IT Services staff.
    • Develop and maintain financial knowledge and expertise.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Educated to degree level (or equivalent qualifications) plus relevant practical experience in a finance and/or purchasing role.
    • Experience of working in a large and complex organization.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Excellent IT skills, including experience with finance software and strong MS Excel skills.
    • Numerate with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
    • Ability to organize and prioritize own workload and work to deadlines.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience of using Oracle financial management and Oracle HR systems.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or other IT service desk solutions.
